During testing, trained psychometrists conduct the assessment under the supervision of licensed psychologists, focusing on a comprehensive evaluation of the client's abilities and needs.
Typically, the comprehensive report is ready within two or three weeks after the final assessment session. This allows our team to carefully analyze the collected data and observations. The report includes a detailed breakdown of findings, and clear, personalized recommendations for next steps, support strategies, and referrals if needed.
At VMA Psych, we understand that each child is unique, which is why we customize every psychoeducational assessment based on the child’s developmental history, behaviour, and the concerns of parents or educators. We use a flexible, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based approach, and maintain ongoing communication with families to ensure meaningful, accurate results.
Patient confidentiality is a top priority at VMA Psych. All records, reports, and communications are securely stored and only shared with your explicit written consent. We follow strict ethical and legal standards in accordance with Ontario’s health privacy laws (PHIPA), ensuring your family's information is always protected.
We accept all private insurance that covers mental health services, including providers like Manulife, Sunlife, Canada Life, and more. To ensure coverage, it's helpful to contact your insurance provider and inquire about the psychological services they cover, the hourly maximum they will pay, and who is covered in your family. Please note that we do not do direct billing or work with OHIP.

The assessment can be completed in one 4-hour session or split into two 2-hour sessions, based on the client's comfort, needs and age.
